Sandy Gullett is a retired high school art teacher who
moved to Morehead in November, 2001. She
earned a masters degree in art education from the University of Cincinnati and
was employed by the New Richmond Exempted Village School system in Ohio for 30
years.
Sandy participated in the Morhead Art Guild show at the Perkins Center
last November, the Greenbo Arts Festival in February 20002 and the Cave Run Art
Association Invitation exhibit at Claypool-Young Gallery June 2002.
Sandy's works on display at the Pine Grove Gallery include watercolors,
oils, colored pencil, pastels, stained glass mosaics and jewelry.
She is willing to try any media - a natural result from her association
with a diversity of media in teaching.
"I think my experience as an educator has made me
more open to all styles of art, from realism to abstract expressionism.
The most elemental line drawing is as appealing to me as the most
elaborate etching. A child's first
drawing is as precious to me as Picasso's last drawing."
Although most of Sandy's works on display through September reflect her
interest in nature and landscapes, she hopes in the future to explore
possibilities with people and animals. Even
though a love of art has been with her since her earliest memories, Sandy feels
like she is just beginning here in Morehead.
Sandy is married to John Gullett originally from Morehead.
They have two sons, John and Jim, who are students at MSU.
