This Kentucky-born artist lives in Morehead, Kentucky just seven miles from the place of her birth. She has traveled around the world, lived in may places, but her great love for Kentucky, with all it’s beauty and memories of her childhood enticed her to return. Her capability of immortalizing in oils and acrylic the memories of home, pleasures of childhood, and the nostalgia of days gone by is characterized in each painting. Her portraits capture the very essence of the person she is painting. Chris Barker began her art career by attending John Muir
School of Art, Pasadena, California; UCLA, Los Angeles, California; Morehead
State University, Morehead, Kentucky. Art
Studies and seminars in Paris, France; Cairo, Egypt and Rome, Italy. Two month workshop with Dalhart Windberg in Austin Texas,
studied with Frank Covino, Renaissance artist from Rome, Italy.
Robert Warren, Columbus, Ohio and others.
She is a John Robert Powers and Dale Carnegie course graduate. Chris is a Fine art Gallery owner and Professional Artist, specializing in Portraits. Recent works include 11 large portraits commissioned by Lucille Caudill Little of Lexington, Ky. (7 portraits of her father to hang in several county courthouses in Kentucky, one of Lucille and Paul Little hangs in the Christian Church Youth Center in downtown Lexington, KY and 3 of Dr. Louise and Jane Caudill is displayed at St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, KY and the Peoples Bank in Sandy Hook, Ky.) She presently has paintings displayed in House of Representatives in Washington, DC, in London Art Gallery in England and many paintings in private and corporate collections across America. Presently, she serves as Judge in many Kentucky competitive art exhibits, teaches workshops, ,seminars and painting demonstrations for many art shows in the region. She also works with beautification programs for the community and has designed and built fountains and flower gardens for the community of Morehead. Much of her time and talent was donated to help promote Morehead as a regional Art center and a more beautiful place to live. She has received many Awards and Honors in her Art career.
